The services of Foyle Child Contact Centre could not be offered without the support and hard work of the team of volunteers.

Foyle Child Contact Centre is managed by a committee of volunteers who organise and plan a range of services to meet the varied needs of the families who use the centre. They employ a Coordinator who oversees the service delivery.

Volunteers are recruited from the wide community, both male and female, and are representative of the main faith groups bringing a variety of skills and experience that creates a strong and effective team.

All volunteers are vetted in accordance with the requirements of ACCESS NI to ensure their suitability to work with children and young people, and receive regular training on issues that include Domestic Violence, Child Protection, Health and Safety and current theory and practice on supported contact issues.

Not all our volunteers can commit to regular contact sessions, but they can contribute in a number of ways including home baking, DIY, fundraising etc. A calendar based rota of duties is prepared every 3-4 months and volunteers are not asked to commit to more sessions than they are happy to – for most volunteers this would be every 5-6 weeks.
